Simply uncap and twist the end cap to extend the piston, dip it into ink, and screw back the end cap to fill. Just like that - you're ready to write and there is no need for cartridges or a converter! Thanks to the clear barrel, you can always see your ink level. The faceted transparent barrel highlights your ink, and shows of the inner workings of the pen.
In keeping with their philosophy of promoting the traditional experience of using a fountain pen, TWSBI has designed this pen to be completely self-serviceable. It comes with a wrench and a vial of silicone grease you can use for at-home maintenance. Don't worry... this is only for long-term care and nothing you have to think about right away.
